We Need the Keystone Pipeline

The Obama administration and the liberal left blocked the Keystone Pipeline.  Why?  They claim it is to have time to do more environmental studies to see if the pipeline will pose a risk to the huge aquifer in Nebraska and other states.

Let me look for a moment at the Alaska Pipeline.  This 800 mile long pipeline has been moving crude from Prudhoe Bay to Valdez since 1977.  The pipeline crosses miles of barren tundra, three major mountain ranges and numerous rivers.  It has been operational with few incidents aside from sabotage, maintenance failures, and gunshot holes.  The most significant thing the environmentalists can try to link to the Alaska Pipeline is the huge oil spill in Valdez, but that was caused by a drunk oil tanker captain.

So if the Alaska Pipeline can be so successful for so long in such a harsh environment without major environmental problems, just why the heck is the Keystone being blocked?

With Iran flexing its muscle and cutting oil shipments and threatening to shut down the Straits of Hormuz, as well as seasonal demand increasing, consumers in the U.S. are probably looking at $5.00/gallon gasoline this summer.  And does that give Obama and his ilk any more motivation to build the Keystone?  Of course not!

The U.S. needs the Keystone Pipeline.  We need the oil, we need the jobs it will create and we need to keep this Canadian oil out of Chinese hands.  Come on Obama, approve this thing!
